This panel will run concurrently with other Art/Marketing talks.Know what you need to know before doing commission work, which is very different from creating a work of art, then displaying and selling it. Three experienced artists - Sharon Anhorn, Cary Hosterman, and Jim Fronapfel - give short presentations, a panel discussion is moderated by sculptor Joe Norman, and is followed by a 10 minute Q & A and sharing by the audience. These talented Loveland artists will share their experiences finding and winning commissions:
- Sharon Anhorn (interior designer, repousse and glass artist) will share experiences with several clients (DU, former Coach Mike Shanahan), interior designers, and as an interior designer herself.
- Carey Hosterman (bronze sculptor) will talk about commissions from churches and royalty, and the challenge of creating and shipping large, heavy work.
- Jim Fronapfel (painter, mixed media) will speak about the importance of building relationships, top-of-mind awareness, and how this led to several European commissions for paintings.
Discussion includes meeting with clients, creating designs and samples, contracts and deposits, and the extreme importance of communication and documentation, especially in writing.
